Touloumotyri

Touloumotyri
Authentic Greek Taste

It takes its name from the fact that it is matured in touloumi, which are upside-down animal skins. It is made from goat’s milk and as it matures it is often ‘watered’ with milk. This gives the cheese a distinctive, intense, tangy, slightly spicy taste. It is light in fat, contains very little salt and has a whitish to yellowish colour and a soft texture.

Toulumi, also known as tulumotiri, is a traditional white cheese that originates from the Mediterranean and especially from the Balkan and Middle Eastern countries. It is a cheese made from sheep’s and goat’s milk, often with a light and creamy texture and strong but not too salty.

Toulumi has a soft texture and can be used in many different dishes. It’s perfect for baking, frying, or even to put in salads and appetizers. Upon baking, the toulumi takes on a golden and crispy surface, while the inside remains soft and creamy.

In addition, tulumi is rich in protein, calcium and other nutrients, making it a healthy and delicious choice for your diet. The process of making tulumotiri is a traditional way of preserving the milk and protein, producing a cheese that is enjoyed around the world for its great taste and beneficial nutritional value.
